The old learning centres continue in the form of newer centres of excellence, the olden day trade centers have paved way for new economy and even newer technologies.
It is here that world religions Buddhism and Jainism were born, even as Hinduism thrived. The state also have a fair presence of followers of Islam (Muslim). It is here that a prominent proponent of a fourth religion - Guru Gobind Singh of the Sikhs was Born. And it is here that the world's first university at Nalanda was established.
