Kishanganj gets Distance Learning Centre of Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI), New Delhi

Providing Quality Education to masses is one of major growth indexes, and it is badly needed in many regions of India especially Kishanganj, a small district of Bihar. Known for the unpopular (less desired) reasons like poor literacy rate, lake of employment, poverty, poor health and sanitation, Kishanganj keeps on eyeing development projects. Thanks to Jamia Millia Islami (JMI) New Delhi and its Vice-Chancellor Prof. Talat Ahmad for gifting a Centre for Distance and Open Learning (CDOL) of the University to Kishanganj. With the sincere efforts of non-government organisation (NGO) Human Chain's President Mohammad Aslam Alig and his team, the Vice-Chancellor of JMI in consultation with decision making body of the University given its nod award the Centre to Tauheed Institute of Engineering & Technology (I.T.I). As per the Programme coordinator (Admin Manager) Mr. Nadeem Akhtar, the CDOL would run at T.I.E.T (I.T.I) Khagra Kishanganj with four courses as given below:

1. Bachelor of Arts (B.A)
2. Bachelor of Commerce (B. Com)
3. Bachelor of Commerce - International Business & Finance (BCIBF)
4. Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA)

It should be worthy to mention here on the invitation VC of JMI Prof. Ahmad made a visit to Kishanganj district in March 2016. While addressing the gathering during an educational conference organised in a madarsa at Sehratola (Purnea) on March 19, 2016, the Vice-Chancellor on the request of Human Chain President Mohammad Aslam made the announcement to open a couple of CDOL in Kishanganj and adjoining areas. Keeping his words, within three months after making the announcement, Prof. Ahmad gifted the CDOL to Kishanganj and its people. Speaking about the Centre of JMI, Human Chain President Mohammad Aslam said, "on behalf of our organisation and people of Kishanganj, Purnea, Araria and Katihar, we express our gratitude for the VC of Jamia Millia. This is the first centre of JMI in this region, and the VC has assured to open few more centres if suitable proposal reaches to his office." "The distance education centre of JMI would be probably inaugurated by Vice-Chancellor and other officials of the University in mid-July", added an elated Mohammad Aslam.

Dissemination of quality education is the best way to empower a person, society, town, district, country or the world at larger scale, and this fact is proven time-and-again. Situated in the north-eastern part of Bihar, the district of Kishanganj is considered among the most backward regions of the country in major economic indexes. Although, the district of Kishanganj used to receive various type of development oriented projects time-to-time from the government as well as non-government organisations (NGO), but these altogether couldn't bring all round development. Hope the Distance Learning Centre of Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) become successful and adds up value into the growth indexes of marginalised district of Kishanganj.
