A day after having a discouraging meeting with Union HRD Minister Kapil Sibal, the AMUCC team led by Convenor Mohammad Aslam and Kishanganj MP Maulana Asrarul Haque met Mrs. Sonia Gandhi, the Chairperson of UPA at 24 Akbar Road. The AMUCC team that had a spat with Kapil Sibal because of his ridiculous statements and careless attitude towards AMU Kishanganj met with Congress MP Maulana Asrarul Haque yesterday afternoon. The team members motivated the MP to fix a meeting with Sonia Gandhi as soon as possible so that Kapil Sibal doesn’t get chance to play with sentiments of people from Seemanchal area.
Today (March 23, 2012) morning, the Congress MP had given a call to Convenor Mohammad Aslam and informed that Mrs. Gandhi has given the appointment. All of sudden, all the core team members available in Delhi were contacted by Mohammad Aslam. At 10 am in the morning the members, namely Mohammad Aslam, Soban M Ahmad, Mohammad Mudassir Alam, Kaifee Anwer, Danish Anwer, Minnat Rahmani, Tauquir Alam (JNU), Sarwer Alam, Jawed Iqbal, Matin Iqbal including three more persons were available in front of Congress headquarters.
At 12 pm, the team finally came face-to-face with Mrs. Sonia Gandhi. The gentle lady with her glazing smile was interacting with AMUCC team. Congress MP Maulana Asrarul Haque and AMUCC Convenor Mohammad Aslam explained the issue before her. Mrs Gandhi listened to all carefully and Veteran Congress leader Oscar Fernandes was noting down the points. The generous UPA Chairperson ensured that she will push the demands forward to the concerned ministries and very soon the AMU Centre will get approval and fund as well. After the meeting Mrs. Sonia Gandhi accompanied the AMUCC team for having a photo session.
On the whole, the UPA II government is running on the guidelines of Mrs Sonia Gandhi. The meeting of AMUCC with Mrs Sonia Gandhi was highly successful. And the gesture of Mrs. Sonia Gandhi was very positive, so we can expect the region of Seemanchal and state of Bihar will see the special centre of AMU in Kishanganj in a short time.
