AMU Kishanganj: KEM organizes a meeting to discuss further action

November 10, 2011: Kishanganj Education Movement (KEM) for AMU Special Centre had called a meeting of its members and common people at Circuit House to discuss the further course of action for the proposed centre. It should be noted the 30 days timeline given to the Purnia Commissioner for sorting the land transfer issue with AMU VC is going to end on November 12, 2011. Along with KEM leader Maulana Asrarul Haque, the meeting was attended by Kishanganj MLA Dr. Mohammad Jawaid Azad, Kochadhaman MLA Akhtarul Imaan, Goalpokhar (Uttar Dinajpur) MLA Gholam Rabbani, Congress Dist President Ishaque Alam and other active members. Gholam Shahid, a key member of Kishanganj Education Movement in company of Masoom Raza played a crucial part in the open meeting.

The Delhi based AMU Centre Co-ordination Committee (AMUCC) members Kaifee Anwar, Mansoor Alam and Mohammad Mudassir Alam attended the meeting. Gholam Shahid invited the AMUCC members to present their side before the gathering. AMUCC member Mudassir shared the activities done by the group in Delhi and key issues related to AMU Centre Kishanganj. Later on, Akhtarul Iman, Dr. Jawaid Azad, Gholam Rabbani and MP Maulana Asrarul Haque shared their views and asked the people to present their suggestions.



 
After a brief discussion and suggestions of the gathering at Circuit House, Gholam Shahid declared following actions ahead for the ongoing movement at Kishanganj;

1. A team of Kishanganj Education Movement will meet the Purnia Division Commissioner Brajesh Mishra to know the current status of land transfer issue on November 14, 2011.

2. If the action taken by Purnia Commissioner is convincing and the proposals are made as per the guidelines of AMU VC, then the KEM will move ahead to talk with the Vice Chancellor to end the long drawn land transfer.

3. If the proposals are not ready, the Kishanganj Education Movement will give additional grace period of 15 days to Purnia Commissioner to complete the task.

4. The team will present a memorandum to Commissioner with a notice for ‘Indefinite Hunger Strike’ if the matter is not sorted out within 15 days. And the leader Asrarul Haque even said that they will do ‘Jail Bharo’ Andolan.

5. As per the suggestions of the attendants Kishanganj Education Movement will invite the leaders of Janata Dal (United) and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and seek their support for the proposed AMU Centre.

6. It is suggested to involve the people from different religions and caste and creed.

7. The committee will also send Fax / Letters to Union HRD Minister Kapil Sibal for his clarification in media on the allegations lamented against him and Central Government by the Bihar HRD Minister P K Shahi.
