No immediate solution of AMU Special Centre Kishanganj, it’s panic but true. The latest jolt came after the stand of Centre after the meeting of Bihar HRD Minister P K Shahi with Union HRD Minister Kapil Sibal. Shahi, a top minister of Bihar Government came to national capital New Delhi to meet Kapil Sibal and explaining the position of Bihar on this issue amid raging controversy over the allotment of land for opening the special centre of AMU in Kishanganj, Bihar.
In his meeting with AMU Centre Co-ordination Committee just few hours before his meeting with Sibal, Mr. Shahi told he actually want to know the status quo from the Centre and its willingness to establish a Centre of AMU in Bihar. Another question Shahi was supposed to ask to Sibal was the power of AMU VC i.e, Prof Azis has the power to give approval for the Centre or not, as he is going to retire in January 2012.
However, Mr. Sibal took a U Turn and presented totally a different and surprising aspect before Mr. Shahi. As per an official spokesperson, Sibbal has said, the Centre would take a decision on the proposed Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) centre at Kishanganj in Bihar after the Allahabad high court disposes of a writ petition against the opening of AMU centres outside Aligarh. “The Union minister told Shahi that a writ petition is pending in the Allahabad high court and action will be taken as soon as the writ petition is decided," said the official spokesperson.
The statement of Sibal is a big shock for the lakhs of people of Bihar who are eagerly waiting for a Centre of AMU in the state. The hope came alive after the October 12, 2011 Maha Dharna in Kishanganj, which pushed the Bihar Government to take immediate action to resolve the land issue. Meanwhile, Shahi urged Sibal to help open the AMU branch at the earliest as the state government has already provided land to the AMU authorities.

ReplyDeleteIt was the biggest win and biggest mistake to call of Dharna on 12th October without any concrete and written agreement. The Dharna should ba against all stake holders i.e Central Govt, Bihar Govt and AMU Admin.
