New Delhi, October 29, 2011: AMU Centre Co-ordination Committee Delhi core team members had a meeting with Kishanganj MLA Dr. Mohammad Jawaid on October 29, 2011 in New Delhi. This past week the congress MLA himself had expressed his willingness to meet with the core team members during his recent visit to national capital. Dr. Jawaid was highly impressed with the modus operandi of the AMU Co-ordination Committee and its concerned approach for the proposed AMU Special Centre in Kishanganj. Led by co-ordinator Mohammad Aslam, the meeting was featuring members, namely Kaifee Anwar, Mahfooz Alam, Minnat Rahmani, Tauqir Alam (JNU), Tauqueer Alam (MSW, DU), Mohammad Mansoor Alam, Khalid Mubashshir, Abrar Rahi and Mohammad Mudassir Alam.

MLA Kishanganj reached the venue of meeting (Youth Café in Jamia Millia Islamia) on time and passed around one hour in discussing the issue of AMU and its possible solutions. Dr. Jawaid said he is keenly following the activities done by the group including its updates on Facebook (AMU Centre Bihar Movement). He had shared about his concern about the issue of AMU Kishanganj and steps taken by him on this regard. Further he mentioned about his meetings in past on AMU issue with Chief Minister of Bihar (Nitish Kumar), HRD Minister (P.K.Shahi) and other keys ministers of Bihar Government.
The members of AMU Co-ordination Committee asked Dr. Jawaid about his role in Kishanganj Education Movement (KEM) for AMU Special Centre. As a patron of the group working for the cause of AMU on ground level, Dr. Jawaid appreciated the October 12, 2011 Maha Dharna. The dharna was historic and it has presented an excellent example of collaborative effort in the Seemanchal area, said the MLA of Kishanganj. Later on he shared the talk of the KEM representatives including him with Purnia Division Commissioner in response to Maha Dharna. The Congress Legislature said the Purnia Division Commissioner had ensured to resolve the issue in 30 – 45 days time. However, the Commissioner didn’t come forward for negotiation with KEM representatives on the order of Bihar CM Nitish Kumar, he just came to fulfill his duty and ending the chaos going on in his division, added Dr. Jawaid.

Dr. Jawaid stressed on the fact that the issue of land transfer can only be solved with the involvement of Bihar Government. Hence the political parties and non political groups like AMU Co-ordination Committee should try their best to take the government in favour for an immediate solution. Along with AMU Special Centre issue, the AMU Centre Co-ordination Committee members highlighted other issues of Kishanganj before the Legislator of Assembly. It should be noted, Kishanganj is very much deprived in the fields of education, health and sanitation, employment, etc. Dr. Jawaid appreciated the suggestions of the committee members and ensured his active involvement to resolve the major issues the people and the district is facing. After a photo session with the team, the ‘young leader from Kishanganj’ Dr. Jawaid left the venue by waving the hands till the Toyota Innova moved out of Jamia Millia Islamia Campus.
