Happy Teacher's Day - A special day for teachers shaping life

0
September 5: We all know is celebrated as Teachers Day in India to commemorate the birthday of India’s former President Sarva Palli Radha Krishnan, who himself was an accomplished teacher as well. Today, when the youths are busy in celebrating Valentine’s Day, Friendship Day, etc., Teachers Day has somehow lost its glitz and celebrated at a limited scale in few parts of the country. In fact, only the students in schools (Primary and Secondary) level celebrate Teachers Day. But, the students in colleges and universities hardly care for their teachers and role of a teacher in their lives.

Fact is that, a teacher is as important as the parents of a child, teenager and youth. Of course, a mother gives birth to a baby and takes care from infant till growing age. At the same time, a father also takes care of his child all through his or her life. But, a teacher also plays a crucial role in shaping the life of his or her student. From A, B, C to ABC of Mathematics, from B for Ball to B for Business, a teacher teaches everything. And also teaches the students about the social values and the ways to lead a respectable life in the society. On the whole, a teacher plays a significant role in the life a student, helps parents to see the completion of their dreams through their children, and also help the country in its all round growth.

Harsh truth is that, today the government (Centre and State) is giving least importance to teachers especially in Primary and Secondary level. In the name of salary, the teachers are getting a meager amount of Rs. 5000 to 10,000. And to height of this, the teachers are assigned the task of doing various types of government works especially Census and other types of data collection in most parts of the year. The Mid Day meal is another headache for the teachers, which is more essential rather than education for government. The situation is more or less similar in Educational Institutions in Kishanganj. I admit, all the teachers are not honest towards their duty, but blaming the whole teacher fraternity is not justified. Still there are many good teachers, who are very much dedicated towards their duty and their students.

On this Teachers Day, we should take a vow that we should give respect to our teachers and must remember their contribution in our livers and also towards the upliftment of the country. On the otherhand, the government should take the service of teachers with utter sincerity instead of just fulfilling the formality of appointing meritless teachers.
