An overview of AMU (Aligarh Muslim University) VC & team visit to Kishanganj

1
One day has left for the proposed visit of Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) VC to Kishanganj. Being in the national capital New Delhi, I am missing the mega event and feeling bad over the circumstances around me. In fact, the tag of AMU old boy is also striking to my mind again-and-again so I am keenly following the progress on the proposed AMU off-campus centre in Kishanganj. I am continuously in touch with DM Kishanganj Mr. Feraque Ahmad, MP Kishanganj Maulana Asrarul Haque and AMU administration as well and getting the latest updates. Below I am sharing an overview of AMU team’s visit to Kishanganj.

AMU VC Dr. P K Abdul Azis with AMU team

On May 22, 2010 the AMU team headed by Vice Chancellor Dr. P K Abdul Azis will reach Kishanganj by flight via Bagdogra Airport. As told by Kishanganj MP Maulana Asrarul Haque a cavalcade of about 100 vehicles (cars / taxis) will move towards Bagdogra on May 22, 2010 to receive AMU team. Although the reception at Bagdogra Airport will be grand but logically I think there is a political motive behind this. The vehicles to Bagdogra will be boarded by only invitation card holders and workers of Congress Party have been given preference for such cards. You can say it a political gimmick or advertisement of Congress Party in the name of AMU issue.

After receiving the AMU team at Bagdogra Airport the cavalcade of 100 vehicles will be back to Circuit House of Kishanganj. The District Administration has made essential arrangement for the stay of AMU team at the Circuit House. After refreshment at the Circuit House the AMU team accompanied by political leaders like MP, MLAs and MLC will move to the proposed land at Chakla Village where security management is done by DM Kishanganj Mr. Feraque Ahmad to avoid any unusual circumstance.

Proposed Site of AMU Study Centre in Kishanganj

At the later part of the day in the evening the AMU team will visit Anjuman Islamia Madarsa to attend the dinner. Maulana Asrarul Haque informed that he has made ex-Principal Mr. Hanif Alam (Nehru College Bahadurganj) the convenor of the programme at Anjuman Islamia. Besides academicians like Professors, Readers, Doctors and Engineers, the MP has invited MLAs and other political representative. The visit of AMU team to Kishanganj is really a matter of happiness for the locals. We all should pray to become the visit a positive step on the proposed AMU off-campus study centre in Kishanganj.
